WOODEN FENCES, INSTALLATION

Wood has always been one of the most widely used materials in outdoor spaces, such as gardens, for the simple reason that it can blend in perfectly with the landscape, but also because it is a natural material that guarantees a truly remarkable aesthetic experience.

In many cases, a wooden fence may well be used only to delimit the perimeter of the garden itself, in order to define the boundaries of private property.

Wooden fences for outdoor use are one of the most common and popular types of fences on the market.

There are various types of wooden fences, ranging from small fences used to divide garden areas to full-fledged fences fixed at the base on a low partition wall or on a concrete foundation.

The use of wood allows our fences to be installed anywhere, creating harmony and giving the garden an even more natural look. Wooden fences often have a small height, in fact, they are only designed to enclose the garden or the entire area, but not for protection.

Fences are made of wood, a natural material that goes well with any outdoor environment. Do not forget that the tree not only fits very well into any landscape, but it also makes a particularly good impression outside the city, where contact with nature is much greater, in contrast to the urban environment, where it simply has to function as a fence.

In order to choose the right fencing, we recommend paying attention to 3 factors:

wood type

Poles, fences and gates are produced on an industrial scale from various tree species. Undoubtedly, there is more to this than just the look of your wooden fence. The resistance of the selected type of wood to weather conditions is the first factor that must be assessed when buying.

How to choose the right wood for your fence

– Pine and spruce are the most popular woods. However, you should keep in mind that this is not the most durable wood for your fence, but it is most likely the cheapest choice. It is usually sold already autoclaved to improve weather resistance, but it will require constant maintenance if you want your fence to keep well for many years.

– If you prefer more durable woods, we recommend that you choose larch or chestnut. Initially, the costs will be higher, but over time, you will get a return in the form of a more attractive appearance and durability.

– Probably the best material for wood fences is cedar as it is naturally water and mildew resistant. In addition, cedar is distinguished by its extraordinary beauty. In addition to appearance, cedar is less prone to warping because it is resistant to moisture, and for the same reason, it is less prone to rotting quickly. However, cedar is more expensive than other woods, and although cedar does not initially need to be stained or painted, it may need to be varnished after a few years, as it is prone to fading in direct sunlight.

Maintenance will be critical for many years to come. You need to use a good impregnation agent regularly to protect your fence.

Most fences should be treated with impregnating agents or special clear varnishes, which simultaneously preserve the color of the wood, increase its strength over time and combat typical signs of wear.

Before proceeding with the installation, it is necessary to take into account the effect of weather conditions and sunlight on the fence.

Sun and rain are the sworn enemies of any type of wood fence or railing. If you plan to install it where it will be exposed to the hot sun for many hours a day, and if you have chosen wood such as pine or spruce, be aware that you will need to cover your fence with a sheeting before the hottest months.

This will add shine to the wood and provide it with the necessary protection for long days in direct sunlight and from the effects of summer showers.

After you have chosen the material and taken care of the design, there is only one step left: installing and fixing a wooden fence.

What should you pay attention to?

– The type of soil in which you have to anchor the posts is of great importance. Dry and wet soil adhere differently to poles and determine their retention.

– If your soil does not provide optimal grip or is too wet, we recommend that you drown the wooden posts in a small amount of cement. If the soil is too wet, this will significantly reduce the strength of the post, and also speed up the aging process of the wood, causing it to rot quickly.

– If the selected wood has not been treated in any way, be sure to use an impregnating agent before placing it in the ground.

– It is advisable to connect the wood with special screws during installation or create a combination of screws and nails. In fact, wood tends to move through the seasons as temperatures change, and if you’ve used spruce or pine poles, over time the nails will lose their effectiveness and may cause the boards to fall.

– Harmony with the environment.

Wood railings are great as railings because they blend in wonderfully with the environment and plants, are durable, and can be easily treated to change color.

– Environmental friendliness.

Unlike other types of fences, wooden fences are characterized by their environmental value. The natural material from which they are made allows them to be installed with full respect for the environment: in fact, it is an environmentally friendly fence with which you can decorate open spaces without compromising their appearance.

– Appearance.

One of the biggest benefits of wood fences is their stunning appearance. Garden fences have always had a great decorative value, but have long been considered a luxury item, thanks to the high-quality wood from which they are made. The tree is very easy to process, which allows us to repair it ourselves if necessary.

– Quick installation.

It can be capital, which will take a little more time, or ordinary, when the pickets are simply driven into the ground.

– Diversity.

Thanks to the variety of colors and shapes of this material, we can easily create a very original fence that will change the look of any site. The undeniable advantage of wooden fences is also the possibility of updating them and changing the color according to your needs.
